What does it mean to support a more energy efficient life in New York State? For the community-based New York Energy Efficiency for All coalition (EEFA-NY), it means working hard to ensure that all New Yorkers have access to affordable, efficient, healthy and comfortable housing – especially lower-income, multi-family households. We believe energy efficiency is a resource that should be available to everyone, regardless of what kind of home they live in.

How do we do it? EEFA-NY works in several capacities, and through a number of partnerships. We support and align ourselves with local stakeholders, as well as engage state and city policymakers to pinpoint the best solutions to make New York homes more energy efficient and affordable.

We participate in state-level proceedings on utility regulation, energy assistance programs and energy efficiency programs and policies. We advocate for low to moderate incomes households, and partner with community groups to help educate communities, property managers and building owners about how energy efficiency leads to a healthier and more comfortable home.

EEFA-NY also supports programs like the Weatherization Assistance Program to help install energy conservation measures into housing that needs them the most. Some of our members help install new energy efficient HVACs (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems), windows, boilers, etc. into buildings where the needs of the residents are greatest. Through this program, administered by New York State Homes and Community Renewal, our partnership focuses on bringing these much-needed upgrades to the elderly, children and persons with disabilities. In 2017, the program will provide assistance to 8,000 homes across the state.

We’re committed to promoting affordable, healthy, energy efficient housing across New York – and we’re looking forward to working with you.
